No Horn Please Campaign by www.crimeindelhi.com
Delhi, the National Capital Territory is one among the cities with highest noise pollution and most of it comes from unnecessary blowing of motor vehicles Horns. Everyday we see people honking all over and most of the times, it is out of impatience. People start honking as soon as the signal turns green or is about to turn red. This trend is causing a lot of harm to the environment and the residents of Delhi. Drivers do not even care for the law that prohibits honking at traffic signals and near hospitals, schools, religious places and in residential areas. Horn has become a toy instead of an emergency tool given in vehicles.
The unwanted sound can affect human health and behavior, causing annoyance, depression, hypertension, stress, hearing loss, memory loss and panic attacks.
Delhiites have started complaining of age-related hearing loss as early as 60 years of age, says a study conducted by the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC).
Most of the trucks and private buses, etc have “Blow Horn Please” written on them signalling all drivers to blow horn whether or not there is a need. With time, we have got an understanding that until we blow a lot of horn on roads, we are not safe.
We all need to understand that Horn is an emergency tool provided in vehicle to avoid accidents and other sudden happenings while driving. One simple horn is causing a lot of problems around to our fellow human-beings.
This campaign by www.crimeindelhi.com is an initiative to encourage people to use as less Horn as possible. No Horn Please is a response to the common saying of Horn Please!
