Why doesn’t Equality law acknowledge that a Woman can Also Rape a Man?
Why does a Young Girl need a Seat in Metro more than an Aged Male?
What do you think is equality? A chocolate to be chewed or an ice-cream to be licked? Or is it a topic of debate for prime time shows? Or is it a political issue? Or is it a source of livelihood for hundreds of Activists?
Every day we hear and see people talking big about equality. But what is pseudo about it? It is the fact that while talking about equality, we just talk about Women Rights!!! Why so? Can equality be achieved by putting one gender so high that the other gender gets in to a ditch? What was happening with women till about probably 2 decades ago is now happening with men! They have no say in front of the fairer gender.
The fault is in our mentality. We work on extreme ends. When we disregarded women in earlier times, they were not even given a thought and now, gradually, we are taking men towards the same.
Is it a largely believed assumption that rule of law prevails in India but does this law actually deliver the Right to Equality?
Lets have a look at Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code. It reads:
“A MAN is said to commit Rape ….”
The law does not even consider the fact that WOMAN CAN ALSO RAPE A MAN! Many developed nation now recognize this fact but India is left far behind. Even a false complaint get the man arrested immediately and put on trial in the court of law. For rest of his life, he has to live with the social stigma.
Another sick mentality is Reservations in Public Transport. Women are given reservation of seats in every form of Public Transport. You talk of equality and treat a specific gender specially! Why so? Can’t women stand and travel like others? Yes, there can be reservation for men and women both who are traveling with small kids, physically handicapped, blind or some other medical reasons. We see even young teenager girls asking aged men to vacate seats for them as they are entitled to it.
Lets look at the larger picture and talk to Equality in real sense. We are not only demoralizing men but are also demeaning women by these pseudo equality talks and actions.
